God and Man?

Someone says, “How can this be? He was the ‘God-Man’!”
If He was not a man – who was the Babe in Bethlehem’s manger?
If He was not God – why did a choir of angels come down from Heaven and sing at His birth?
If He was not a man – who called Himself “the Son of man”?
If He was not God – who said, “I and my Father are one”?
If He was not a man – who washed the disciples’ feet?
If He was not God – who washed them from their sins in His own blood?
If He was not a man – who was it that wept at Lazarus’ tomb?
If He was not God – who called Lazarus forth from the tomb?
If He was not a man – who hungered on the mountainside?
If He was not God – who fed a hungry multitude on that same mountainside with a little boy’s lunch?
If He was not a man – who stood before Pilate when Pilate said, “Behold the man”?
If He was not God – who caused Pilate to wash his hands and say, “I find no fault in this man”?
If He was not a man – whose hands and feet were nailed to the cross?
If He was not God – who rent the veil in the temple?
If He was not a man – who hung on the cross?
If He was not God – who moved the earth from its foundations?
If He was not a man – who cried out from the cross, “I thirst”?
If He was not God – who gave the woman at the well living water?
If He was not a man – who cried out, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
If He was not God – who said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”?
If He was not a man – who was buried in Joseph’s tomb?
If He was not God – who cam forth from the same tomb three days later?
I say to you today, HE WAS MAN! HE WAS GOD! HE WAS THE GOD-MAN,
And He is mine!

changed

i love being part of a community that is aware and that cares about the needs of others and the need to make the Christian life what it is meant to be. so often we compartmentalize areas in our lives and label them one thing or another. such as, my home life, or my life at work or my spiritual life. something we all need to understand is that all parts of our lives are spiritual parts. to separate one from the other is to try to take God out of that part of our life. when we stepped into this world in human skin, we entered into a spiritual life and journey no matter what we put our faith in, who we follow or what we do. The end result will be up to what path we decide to take, and who we are trusting in to take us there.

Most of us have allot of the easy parts down. the faithfulness to the church body. the morality. the religious repetitiveness. the lingo. the "right" answers. the "right" positions. we show up at the "right" times and in the "right" places. But, it is so much more than that. It is this Christ transforming your whole life. Every part of it. Every breath you breathe and every word you speak, changed. because of HIM. your outlook on life. your world view. your desires. your hopes. your goals. your future. your destiny. your destination. all changed by this man. Jesus.

I believe we have been changed to bring change. Yes spiritually through sharing the life changing love of the gospel that is available to ALL who believe. Everyone. The rich, the poor, the lovely the unlovely. The different. The rejected. Those in bondage. The immoral. The broken. The fallen. The confused. And the only place it is found is not in some religious group or some set of moral regulations but is ONLY found in the life changing love of Christ. through salvation.

For those of us who have experienced this salvation and have been redeemed, how is it affecting every area of your life? how has it changed you. what has it given you victory over? what has it given you freedom from?

what do you do differently now? how do you treat others? how do you treat those that hate you? that disagree with you? do you hold any bitterness?

How many pharisees despise you and how many that are lost love you?

do you just preach against them.....or do you pray for them?

who is it, that is different because of the difference Christ made in you, when HE CHANGED YOU!

yasm family Christmas party a hit once again

yasm community together once again for a time of true fellowship. What an amazing night. The food was most excellent! Thanks to Sarah Gordon and her mom! The gag gifts were hilarious! But, to me the greatest time, was the time of affirmation. What a sacred an special time. I love to sit back and listen to you all encourage, lift up , and share how Jesus has been evident in someone else's life, and, how it has made a difference in yours. God has blessed us, to be able to have a community that is selfless, giving, and makes loving God, and each other the center of what happens in our lives. As a group, lets never forget evenings like this, when we are all together, and when Christ and His life changing love are so evident. It is refreshing and encouraging to be a part of a community that is real, about life, God , and our struggles, but challenges all of us as a whole to be closer to Christ and to be more like Jesus himself. thank you all for being you! may peace be with you today!

how you can share Jesus this Christmas...

As a community starting this Sunday we will be collecting new toys and new books. They will be given to a family that is in need this year at Christmas.

We will also be collecting adults socks and towells for the Baltimore Rescue mission and Karis home.

If you would like to be a part being a blessing and giving this year please bring the un-wrapped toys, books, socks, or towels to the yasm gathering any Sunday Dec. 2-16.

Just a few bucks can bring joy to someone and help to make a difference and to bring change.

Ps. I bet your wearing socks right now!

orange juice and tooth paste

the other morning i woke up as usual (after hitting snooze as many times as possible) hopped in the old shower, BRUSHED MY TEETH, threw my fingers through my hair a couple of times, grabbed my back pack, went for my morning jog (to the kitchen), and grabbed the NO PULP original tropicana pure premium 100% pure and natural oj, poured it in a glass and began to chugggggggggg!!!! yep.....chuggg...and then i realized at that moment...orange juice and toothpaste do not mix.(most hate it, to be honest I actually love that taste, but anyways for the sake of ill.) they do not mix!!!!

Jesus does not mix with some things either...some things don't taste like they belong with one who follows and seeks to live like Him. Pride, religion, selfishness, love of money, bitterness, wrath, evil speaking, I could go on and on but you get the point. Don't mix oj and toothpaste! Trust me....

accountability.....why I need it

accountability...

Can be a scary thing. it's kind of putting ourselves out there. most of us hate to fail. and, we do not like talking to people about it when we do. especially those of us who are self promoters who do not want people to know who we really are and what we are really like. you see we struggle with this thing called pride. its nothing new. we have been struggling with it from the garden of eden and it still haunts us now. we want others to think we are something that we are not. and because of this we become something we are not. one of the things besides spending time meditating and worshiping that has helped me is having a brother who i talk about my walk, my struggles and my life with. It does not matter if you are a pastor, leader, counselor, or whatever, get over yourself. the truth is we are all struggling with something. we all need God. we all need others to encourage, edify, and help us on this journey.

yasm IS a Family....

what an awesome night monday night. Bible study was great. It was another stellar evening of worship, testimony, and exaltation of Jesus. The teaching was amazing as well! It was so good to see us all take this next step on our journey together. Being able to talk about bitterness and unity the way we did last night. I loved every second of it. The fact is we are all human, and we are going to fail. We are going to be hurt and we are going to hurt!

BEING PART OF A CHURCH IS BEING ABLE TO FORGIVE AND BE FORGIVEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!

God thank you for allowing me to be a part of this community.

Body Count: Prove it

this Sunday we will be looking at the disappearance and re-appearance of Christ. How do you know He rose from the dead? How do you know he was not just asleep or in a coma. How do you know it was not some type of cover up or a conspiracy. How do you know He is alive. Prove it.....I dont care what your parents say....I want you to prove it....

I have been asked all of these questions. To those who do not follow Christ, "Because the Bible says so" does not cut it! We will look yes at the Scriptures and at the scientific and Historic records that will back up the death, the burial, and the resurrection of the KING OF KINGS and the Lord of Lords. Be there!

Freinds

Last Sunday we studied what the Scriptures had to say about friends, and about friendship.

The best way to have a friend is to be a friend! "a man that hath friends must show himself friendly."

Friends:

Put the others desires before there own.
Are honest.
Have a mutual agreement.
Will bail each other out of jail. (a best friend would have been in jail with you)
Have empathy.
Communicate.
Chill.
Talk about ideas and God and NOT other people!
Challenge each other to be a better person.
Point each other toward Jesus.
Minister together.
Laugh together.
Are loyal.
Talk online when they should be working.
Don't let other friends use internet explorer.
Pray for each other.

Who are you being a friend to???

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Is this person right for me???

Do you challenge each other to be closer to the Lord?
Do you talk? (not argue)
Do they try to control you?
Do you pray together? (if you don't know what makes you think you will later)
Are you able to talk through issues?
Do you ever ignore each other?
Do you minister together?
Do you make each other laugh?
Is that person one of your best friends?
Would you rather be with them than anyone else?
Do you really care about them, or are you just sympathetic?
Can you see yourself with them for the REST of your life?

just a few questions you should ask yourself...
if you can't answer most of these correctly GET OUT OF IT!!!

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

would Jesus really...

give a buck to the guy laying on the bench?
give an ear to the freestyle rapper who wont leave you alone?
give food to the lady sitting there with her son?
take the card from the deaf guy that keeps following you?

one thing i have learned...He is a giver.

don't be a skeptic.

He gave to you! and you don't always spend it on what you should.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

this is why I love leading yasm:

you have friends that will think about you and will do things for you and to you...
Love wins!!! I thank you all and Love you all!!!

Mercy

We are finishing up a series this Sunday entitled, "Understanding God." This week in the final installment we will be studying "Understanding the Mercy of God". If you would like to read ahead read Psalm 103:1-11. The thought of God not giving me what I deserve is so powerful and at the same time thought provoking. If you have any thoughts or questions concerning this subject feel free to post! It has been quiet lately!!! God bless you all.

Music is...

1. Music is a TEACHER
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

2. Music is an ENCOURAGER
Job 35:10 But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;

3. Music is a TESTIMONY
Psalms 59:16-17 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

4. Music is a COMFORTER
Job 29:13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

Having a hard time…find a song and sing it!!!

5. Music is a PREPARER OF THE HEART
Psalms 57:7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

6. Music is a BIBLE INSTRUCTOR
Psalms 119:54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

7. Music is a REFRESHER
1 Samuel 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

8. Music is a MOTIVATOR
Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

9. Music is a REVEALER OF GOOD SPRIRITUAL GROWTH
Psalms 100:1-2 A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

what are you singing about???

Christian Killer

Pride.

"We need less people ACTING like Christians, and more people BEING Christians."

Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Matthew 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

All of these verses have something in common. God does something with the prideful and also with the humble! Pride brings devision. Pride brings deceit. Pride brings death!!! Humility brings exaltation.

Faithfulness brings greatness! Some want to be noticed. Some want to be in charge. Some want to be the leader. Some want the power. Some want the recognition. But some having compassion will make a difference! One thing I have learned, is, yes God wants all to serve Him and strive with Him, but if you or I think His work will not go on without us we are sadly mistaken! The gates of hell will not prevail against some man? The gates of hell will not prevail against some group or committee? The gates of hell will not prevail against some preacher, teacher, or leader, No, THE GATES OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THE CHURCH! And, are you not glad that the church, aint built on some man, aint built on some group, aint built on some committee, Upon this rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail!!!! I am so glad it does not depend on me, it does not depend on you, as long as we give credit to whom credit is due!!!!! God is blessing, has blessed and will continue to bless!!! All hail the power of Jesus name let angels prostrate fall bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him Lord of all.....We are at our strongest when we are unified and when we serve together realizing He is all we need....

Pride will kill you...those that are ultimately exalted are those who do not care who gets the credit! If i remember correctly the first shall be last, and he that is greatest among you is the one serving!

(pardon use of the word aint)

"Others"

Lord help me to live from day to day,
In such a self forgetful way
That even when I kneel to pray
My prayer shall be for others.

Others, Lord, Yes, others
Let this my motto be
Help me to live for others that I may live like Thee.

Help me in all the work I do
To ever be sincere and true
And know that all I'd do for you must be done for others.

Let self be crucified and slain
And buried deep and all in vain
May efforts b to rise again, Unless to live for others.

showers of blessing!

This morning started like most mornings. Alarm goes off! I hit snooze. Alarm goes off again. I hit snooze again. Alarm goes off again. I get up. I get around, spend some time in meditation and worship. Get dressed. Brush my teeth. Head out to the car. As I walk outside I realize it is going to be a beautiful day. The birds are singing, the sun is shinning, it about 65 degrees, it does not get much better than this. (especially if you car has no a/c) I head towards the office. I did not have time to make some coffee so of course I need to stop. I run into Royal farms, poor some coffee, and get in line. As I am humming the song "Come Lord Jesus Come", pondering on the beautiful morning, praising Him for the great things He hath done, patiently waiting in this ridiculous line (where there is only one cashier for about 12 people, common at the farms store) I feel something that you do not normally feel while standing in line at the farm store. Some thing hot spraying all over me, my shirt my shoes are soaked, I feel like I jumped into a hot shower without testing the water!!! Man, that hurts! I turn to find a older lady apologizing, as she just realized she poured her 32 oz. coffee all over the floor and all over me! The humming of "Come Lord Jesus Come" stops. I have a decision to make. Do I yell at the incompetent, clumsy , destructive, probably did on purpose old lady? Do I sue her for slightly burning me by the coffee shower she has just given me? With the 10 others watching, what do I do. What would you do? What would HE do? I was wearing one of my favorite shirts.

aight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past week has been great! The Bible study last Monday evening was one of the best we have ever had! The worship then and on Sunday was unreal. PTL that God is using you all in an amazing way! I am so blessed to be part of a community that desires to please and to serve God!

I hope we will never lose sight of our goals and our purpose. And that is, Christ, high and lifted up.

As we continue this journey, I hope and pray you will be faithful followers of HIM. Not some religion, not some set of rules or guidlines but HIM! Pure and undefiled religion. Caring about the things God cares about. Loving, worshiping, growing as we study His life and His word. God bless you today and tomorrow. Peace be with you!

he's a punk I hope he's not using YOU!!!

The devil is a punk!!!!

Pro 11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Pro 20:19 He that goeth about [as] a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Pro 17:28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: [and] he that shutteth his lips [is esteemed] a man of understanding.

Mat 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Mat 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye?

Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Luk 6:41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Luk 6:42 Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

Jhn 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

1Cr 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup.

2Cr 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not [his] brother abideth in death.

1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

1Jo 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

1Jo 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

The Ministry

People are the ministry!

The greatest gift we can give people is to pray for them. Paul said in Romans 1:11-13: I want to see you! I want to edify you! I want to fellowship with you! I want to help you! This is what ministering is all about. Ask yourself: Am I ministering? Do I want to see them? Do I want to edify them? Do I want to fellowship with them? Do I want to help them?

God is sooooo good!

Steve Minkle got baptized last night!!!!(sticking my tongue out at the devil)

God is so good to us in yasm! this is for all of you who are not all of the way in! God wants to use you! He wants not just to minister to you but to minister through you! Its time to step up! Hey, its time to make something happen! It's time to take it to the next level! Realize, God wants to bless us more than want to be blessed! God wants us to grow more than we want to grow!!! Do you believe it? Jump in! Dive in! Step up! To make a difference we must be different! To better our future we must disrupt our present! We have not even began to scratch the surface of what God has in store! don't miss it! be right smack dab in the middle of it!

Standing between the dead and the Living....

Numbers 16:48..."And he stood between the dead and the living..."

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

We have a responsibility today!
Who will you come in contact with today who has not heard?
Who is sitting across the room from you right now that does not know?
Who will never hear if you don't tell them?
Who will die and never know if you don't show them?
Who has the holy spirit told you to tell and you have not?

Love wins. Tell them about it!

Is Bible College for me???

I just want to say AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! to Bro. Montoro's sermon last night! What a great thought! Learning the Word and Living the word IS so important. Here is a little recap of the sermon "Bible College is it for me?"

2 Timothy 2:15-16 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

1. Learning Great Principles (Heb. 4:12; Rev. 2:2-5)
2. Loving Great People (Jer. 5:5; Pro. 27:17; Prov. 13:20)
3. Leading Great Progress (Pro. 1:5; Pro. 9:9; Rom. 15:4)
a. Powerful Growth (Dan. 1:8; 12:15; 1:17; 1:19-20; Prov. 3:1-4

c. Profitable Godliness (II Peter 1:3; I Tim. 6:6)

NO FEAR!!!

Psalms 118:6-9 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what man can do unto me? The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

This passage was in my reading this morning. What a awesome truth. I will not fear what man can do unto me!!! Galatians 1:10 also comes to mind: For do I now persuade men or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Alright! Let them laugh! Let them make fun! Let them accuse! Let them mock! Let them scorn! I will not fear what man can do unto me!!! God is still on the throne this morning! God still blesses those who love, those who forgive, those who follow his Word. Those who seek to be accepted of him! Those who preach and teach his Word! Yea all that live Godly SHALL suffer persecution! Show me man who has never had anything bad said about it him, and I will show you man who has never done anything! You cannot control the lies people say about you, but you can control the truth. Being a part of a Church is being able to forgive and be forgiven over and over again. We need to all make sure there is only one person we try to please, and that is the Lord Himself, high and lifted up. When we please HIM everyone else we need to please IS pleased!!! Praise the Lord for His unfailing, unchanging grace! I will not fear what man can do unto me!

The same chapter says in verse 24: This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Then in verse 29: O give thanks unto the Lord; For he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.

Is it real to you???

John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I love that old song "There is coming a day when no heart aches shall come, no more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye; all is peace for evermore on that happy golden shore, what a day, glorious day that will be! There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear, no more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there; and forever I will be with the one who died for me. What a day! Glorious day that will be...."

Is it real to you today? What on earth are you doing for heavens sake!

The Desire to Acquire

If you were in Church last night what a convicting message!

A quote from the sermon that blew my mind:"I would be happy if I just had_______________. Whatever you put in that blank your coveting." Chew on that one for a while, as will I! Contentment. What a great reminder of how, If we have Christ, we have all we need! The scripture said, if we have food and clothing we are good to go. Come on now, I know I am not the only one who has ever struggled with this! What an awesome reminder that Jesus is satisfaction, He is completeness, He is peace, He, is contentment.

New Series Starting This Sunday

LEAVING NEVERLAND! it's time to grow up!!! I hope you will all join us as we study this subject together! Growing spiritually and developing responsibility. I promise this will be a help to all of us. It will challenge us, and motivate us to grow closer to the Lord and will help us as young adults develop into spirit led adults. I hope to see you all on Sunday.

This series is for those who:

Your mom or dad woke you up this morning.
Your mom did your laundry this past week.
Have no idea how to balance your check book.
You are still MADE to come to church.
Your idea of a successful relationship is she didn't break up with you first.
The Bible is just something I rant about on Sunday.
Think all authority is out to get them.
Want to grow up socially and spiritually.
Want to be responsible but are not sure how to be.
Call sin a disease.
Want to make a decision to put away childish things.
Searching for fulfillment.

I hope all of you will be there. I am praying for you!

yasm friends who have been gone for the summer

I just wanted to remind everyone to be in prayer for 3 of our leaders who have been gone all summer. Paul Gabler had been in Florida taking some classes, remember to pray for him, he will be back in a couple of weeks. Paul is a huge blessing to our ministry. He is our Web designer and has done a outstanding job and has been a huge help in our ministry.

Derrick has been working at a camp all summer and will be back at the beginning of September. Pray for him, he is working with teenagers, and sharing Christ with them.

Also Alex is traveling all over the country with an evangelism team. They have already seen many people come to the Lord this summer!

Pray that God will bring all of them back safely. I cannot wait to see each one of them, and to hear how GOD is working in there lives.

Post a comment to shout out to them!

today

today was a great day. God reminded me of so many things that i so often seem to push aside and forget. I was reminded once again of how selfish I am as an individual and how selfish we are so many times as a community. God has called us to be different. He has called us not to be served but to serve! Not to be loved but to love!

this quote today really made me think: "i declare that God owns it all, yet I act with all the manic possessiveness of a sleep-deprived toddler at a Christmas party."

another awesome week to be a part of yasm

This past week was amazing! Bible study this past Thursday night was awesome! If you did not attend I hate to break it to you but you missed out! check the slice of the week on the yasm home page to see what went on.

Sunday was off of the hook as well. Those of you who come once in a while when you "have time", I want to encourage you to be faithful on Sunday mornings as well as Bible Study and accountability. You and I will never reach our potential spiritually unless we get to the point where church is not an option but a necessity!

Yasm yesterday

What an amazing 10:00am gathering yesterday! Ashley, Justin, stellar job,
the worship was unreal! Meagan, Chevy, Wes, the trio was off of the hook! I am so glad to be a part of a ministry where everyone is welcome, and, where all gifts and talents can be used to bring glory to HIS name, to bless, to encourage, to uplift and to edify the body of Christ, the Church!

God is so good! May you all have a blessed and peaceful day. Remember, Show the Love of Christ to someone today.

Another yasm missionary leaves today

I am so blessed to be a part of a ministry, full of people who are serving in so many different ways. Please be in prayer for Lydia. She is leaving today for a mission trip to France. She is one of the leaders taking teens to do mission work there. Remember her for the next week in your prayers.

Also do not forget about other missionaries we have out this Summer: Adam Bell, Derrick Hiatt, Alex Hockett, and many that have already had successful trips this summer.

Remember, the place that shines the farthest, shines the brightest at home.

the 4th

I woke up this morning, took a shower. Got ready. Drove to Starbucks. Drank a Grande organic misto. Drove to my office. Read. Got online. In a few minutes will go eat. Spend time with friends. Tonight I will go to church. Here God's word. Pray. Leave. Go watch fireworks. Go home. Go to bed. Wake up and do it all over again.

Across the ocean, a young man my age has been up all night. Hungry. Has not eaten in a while. Has no clean water. Has lost many siblings and family members to starvation. To abuse. To addiction. To death. Has never been to a starbucks. Has never been to a picnic. does not know of church. knows of prayer, but only as a act of crying out for help to a god made of wood or stone. Will possibly die never hearing about the love of Christ.

Think about it. Most of us by noon today will have complained about something. (as we sit at our picnic) coasting through life doing nothing about anything. My challenge today: MAKE A DIFFERENCE--Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

keep it real

The more I study the life of Christ the more I love Him. Why? Because Christ was what he claimed to be. Christ, unconditionally loved people. Many people take claim to doing the same but in reality are most of the time self promoters taking a shallow stance when put in a situation when one is actually different than they are. By nature we are tribal people, usually gravitating to those who we can relate to the most. Those, who are like we are. We separate (to a specific tribe) so often, and are divided by: Style of Music, clothing, social status, race, north and south, part of town one is from, denomination, economic status, ect. that we belong to... We tend to treat people differently according to what category we may rank in, or what tribe we fall into. The one thing it has taken myself so long to understand is, that God has created all, regardless of what tribe we consider ourselves to be part of, and he has called us (Christians)(Christ Followers) to do exactly that, to follow HIM. To live in Him and for us to allow Him to live in us.

Christ love is unconditional. Christ Loves the poor and rich the SAME. Christ loves the same regardless of skin color, and ethnic background. His love is deep. So much deeper than the shallow love that says, I love you as long as you agree with me. Christ loved, whether they agreed with Him or not. Christ loved NO MATTER WHAT! I have heard many say that peace and love is just a hippie thing. If I read my Bible correctly, true peace and love IS NOT A HIPPIE thing! It is a GOD THING!

Any Question read this:

Psalms 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Mark 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

Luke 6:32-38 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Luke 20:45-47 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Romans 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

James 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

James 5:9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
I could keep going but I think we all understand. WE NEED TO SPEAK WHEN GOD SPEAKS AND BE SILENT WHERE HE IS SILENT!

Also she will follow up again Sat. morning online if you are a computer junkie or she will give you a courtesy reminder for those of us who procrastinate.

Thank all of you for your faithfulness in this ministry.

Accountability

accountability is to be:

1. sacred - not a game of tag but something that is put in place for the purpose of edification and growth.

2. selective - should only be practiced with the partner that God has chosen specifically for you.

3. secret - should be done in private.

On Fire Devotion week 2 Day 4: Worthless

Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

What has God done for you to let you know how much you are worth to Him? What

On Fire Devotion Week 2 Day 3: Silence is Power

Mark 15:3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.

Am I Christ-like? When people mock me how do I react. When people fling verbal swords at me, how do I take it...what do I say? Do I fight back? Do I raise my voice and make known how insecure I really am? Do I hit the brakes a little harder to send a message? Do I give a look of hate? Am I Christlike? He answered nothing! Silence is the ultimate symbol of power. Don't give in.....the devil is a punk.

Next Yasm Fast

The next yasm fast will begin next Monday @ 6:30pm and end Tues @ 6:30pm at the church. We will meet (on TUES) in the auditorium balcony where we sit for a time of testimony and prayer. Then all who can will make a few visits and then proceed to chick fila for a yasm family dinner.

The purpose of this fast is for yasms continual blessing and growth through the summer. Not just numerically but spiritually, individually and personally. The other purpose is that God will open the door for our Orphan ministry. God bless you, I hope you will join us. Peace. Jake

On Fire Devotion Week 2 Day 2: YOUR WEAK

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

What is your biggest weakness? when do you find yourself struggling with this? Ask God to give you strength to overcome it next time you are tempted to do it! Remember the Devil is a punk! Gods strength can be made perfect in your weakness!

On Fire Devotion Week 2 Day 1: Earthquakes

Psalms 46:1-3 <> God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

As we go through this day, earthquakes will rumble, winds will blow, lightening will strike! Remember: God is walking with you!

Did you walk with Him today?

Friday, June 15, 2007

On Fire Devotion Day 5: Do you Know that Voice

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

When He speaks do you hear Him? Do you obey? Do you follow?

Do you know His voice?

From Alex on the Road to yasm

Hey Jake, and YASM
Just wanted to let you know that satan is AT work, but WILL NOT win. first couple days in kentucky, i drove down to nashville tenessee and got trapped there for 12 hours trying to get the bus fixed for tour. The night before we left we slept in the church on pews, that was uncomfortable so i couldnt sleep haha. so i pulled an all nighter and enjoyed a nice 16 hour bus ride to florida. first night in florida we had 11 commit their life to Christ. this week is about to be finished, we leave tomorrow for virginia around 12noon. this week results i believe has been around 50 saved all together and we still have tonight to go. Satan has really been trying to get ahold of our attitudes but thankfully we have a strong united, staff who realizes the importance of prayer and fasting. we do a fast together once a week, some have gone all week just fasting over the strength needed to conquer the struggles their facing right now. its so awesome. things are going greatk continue to pray for us...only 7 more weeks left.
God Bless!!

On Fire Devotion Day 4: Does it Burn

Jeremiah 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Does God's Word burn inside of you? Do you talk about it? Do you share it? Are you on fire? I love what Jonathan Wesely said: "Lord, light me on fire so others can come and watch me burn!"

His word is alive! His word is Powerful! His word is life changing! It has the answers! Does it burn inside of you? HAVE YOU READ IT TODAY?

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

On Fire Devotion Day 3: Like a Rock

Luke 6:47-48 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

What kind of foundation do you have?

If your foundation is weak, it will eventually crack and the structure will crumble! In our lives if we do not dig deep and create a strong foundation, we will crumble! Emotionally, Spiritually, and Relationally.

To have a strong foundation we must have the correct ingredients and they must be mixed the right way! 1. We must have the WORD of GOD. (did you read today?) 2. We must have a relationship with God. (did you pray today?) 3. We must have fellowship with God's people (are you going to church today?) 4. We must tell others about His saving grace. (have you told anyone today?)

Just a couple of things that will help us stand through the storms of life!

On Fire Devotion Day 2 : Who's the Boss

Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Who's the boss? Who determines what you are going to do today? Who determines how you will live today? Who is it that decides what decisions you make today?

What is it that you will ponder or think about most today? Whoever or Whatever it is, is your boss!

Matthew 6:32-34 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

On Fire Devotion Day 1: Watering and Hydrating your Soul

Psalms 63:1 (A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Have you ever been thirsty? Really seriously thirsty? To the point where your throat is so dry and swollen you are not sure if you could swallow?

Last year i planted some flowers down by the end of the road at the church. These flowers were beautiful when first planted. But, there was one problem. There was no water close enough to them to water them. Guess what happened? You got it....they died.

The Bible in our lives is our water. If we do not quench our thirst with it. If we do not water our lives with it. Guess what will happen? We to will die. It is essential for our spiritual growth. It is a necessity. We cannot make it without it. We will not grow. And, if we are not growing, we are dying!

Every morning I take time to water the flowers. Because, I want them to make it! I want them to live, to survive and to have and abundant life. We need to be watering our lives with the WORD OF GOD on the daily basis. This will ensure growth and life. Have you watered your life today?

Email From Paul Gabler in Florida to us....

Jake,

Here are some thoughts I had Wed night, I kinda wanted to share them with the class. If you feel it is worthy could you post it?
Paul

I was visiting another church Wednesday (only cause I couldn't be with you all). The pastor spoke on not only the bible based church but also the fellowship based church.
The scripture used was Acts 2:41-42 which interestingly enough was our daily Bible verse for that day.
41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

They took turns going around giving praises to God and saying what He has done in their lives. People spoke of all sorts of things but people kept keying on how supportive and caring a church(actually a family) should be.

I am thankful to God for sending me to and giving me a church family that does care and has love for each other. Being there and hearing them speak just reminded me of how great God is and how blessed we are to have each other, I believe we should not forget that... but that we should realize that not everyone, not even all born again Christians have that.

Being away just a short time has made me think of what it would be like to not have the YASM Fellowship. I would challenge each of you to think of what it would be like if you didn't have YASM. And with that thought... reach out to others to share the gifts God has given us with others.
There are so many ways to share Gods love...

First Yasm community fast a success

It seems like every decision we make together God blesses. Who would have ever thought 2 years ago when yasm started, that some day on a random Thursday night we would have over 20 people fasting together and praying together. We even had one visitor join us!!! God is awesome. Praise the Lord. Great things He hath done. Guess what???? He has allot more in store for us. Thought for today: GOD WANTS TO BLESS YASM A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN YASM WANTS TO BE BLESSED!

yo!!!!!!!!!!!!! here we go again.......another new ministry!!!!!

God has laid it on my heart to start a ministry to the orphans in the Baltimore area. Be praying!!! God has already started to open the door for this to happen!!! And YASM will be leading the charge!!!!

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Why do you think this is so important?

Class Fast

Just a reminder that we are fasting next Wed. from 8 pm until Thurs. 8pm when we will meet at the church for a time of prayer then for a yasm family dinner at the diner. I hope you will take this step in our spiritual journey together...

when is the last time you denied yourself of something and just spent some time with GOD, and simply said, "I love you and I want you to have preeminence in my life."?

LOVE WINS

He loves me in spite of me...when i ignore Him, He loves me. When i don't talk to Him, He loves me. When i turn on Him, He loves me. When i reject Him, He loves me. When i don't acknowledge Him, He loves me. When i fail or fall, He loves me. When i reject Him, He loves me. When i don't involve Him in the life He gave me, He loves me. When i commit horrid sin in His presence, He loves me. When i don't spend my money, time, talents, gifts like He intended, He loves me. In my darkest moment He loves me. In that place no one else in the world knows about, He loves me. In my bitterness, He loves me. In my self righteousness He loves me. When i am all alone and it feels the like all humanity is against me, He loves me. LOVE WINS...don't forget it...the devils a punk

fasting by Hockett

When this idea of fasting came to me I really didn’t know what to do about it. I knew from the examples in the Bible, that fasting was something that is done to sacrifice your body to bring glory to God. I quickly realized that my definition of fasting was somewhat vague, so I had to do a little research. I decided to ask around and the information I gathered from The Bible, internet articles and a good friend of mine blew me away. My friend shared with me some things that helped me understand how fasting can change your spritual life and improve your relationship with God. He said that fasting shows our reliance upon God for all things. It reminds us that we are, ultimately, spiritual beings. But yet how often do we neglect to remember God’s presence when we would never consider neglecting to eat! Fasting brings us face to face with how we put the material world ahead of its spiritual source.

If the point of the fast is to deny our physical senses and to focus on our spirituality, then it would be pointless to deny my body food but satisfy my flesh by physical pleasure. We are just satisfying our flesh in a different way, and in doing so missing the entire point of the fast. When you fast, replace all things physical with all things spiritual. If any activity is satisfying to your flesh, deny it during your periods of fasting for the greatest possible benefit to your spirit. Can you imagine, if we all step up and put God first in our lives, even for just one day, what He could do within our ministry. YASM has come a long way, but I truly believe that this is just the beginning!

dont forget yasm fast may 30, 8pm to may 31, 8pm. (meet @ church the 31 @ 8pm for prayer)

am I Christlike???

  • how do i respond when I am mistreated?
  • what do i do and say when I find out I have been lied about?
  • what is my first instinct when confrontation is in my grill?
  • what is my attitude towards the poor?
what do I do when.....
  • someone spits in my face
  • someone slaps me
  • my own family despises and rejects me
  • the religious judge me
  • those closest to me betray me
  • someone publicly mocks me
  • one of my best friends denies me
  • those i have given to, those i have forgiven, those i have sacrificed for, those i would be willing to die for, want nothing to with me
then i slow down and ask myself.....am I Christlike?

COMMENT!!!!

what does yasm mean in your Life?

Thursday, May 10, 2007

So you gott it all together do ya?

Matthew 23:25-28 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Matthew 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

THE DEVIL IS A PUNK

satan hates you! he wants to destroy you! he wants to devour you! he wants to divide you! he wants to tear you down! he wants you to fall! he wants you to judge! he wants you to be self righteous, arrogant, selfish! he wants you to gossip! he wants to strain your relationships! he does not care about you! he is a liar! he is a deceiver! he is a two faced people pleasing trick! he wants you to be depressed, frustrated, and tired. he wants you to look down on others. he does not want you to love, witness, edify, encourage, praise, worship, uplift, fellowship, or commune with God. he hates yasm.
1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

spiritual?

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

John 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

Romans 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

Romans 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Ephesians 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1 John 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

2 John 1:5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Could you even Imagine...

The statement by Sun-Kyung Cho, sister of Seung-Hui Cho, on behalf of herself and her family:

On behalf of our family, we are so deeply sorry for the devastation my brother has caused. No words can express our sadness that 32 innocent people lost their lives this week in such a terrible, senseless tragedy. We are heartbroken. We grieve alongside the families, the Virginia Tech community, our State of Virginia, and the rest of the nation. And, the world.

Every day since April 16, my father, mother and I pray for students Ross Abdallah Alameddine, Brian Roy Bluhm, Ryan Christopher Clark, Austin Michelle Cloyd, Matthew Gregory Gwaltney, Caitlin Millar Hammaren, Jeremy Michael Herbstritt, Rachael Elizabeth Hill, Emily Jane Hilscher, Jarrett Lee Lane, Matthew Joseph La Porte, Henry J. Lee, Partahi Mamora Halomoan Lumbantoruan, Lauren Ashley McCain, Daniel Patrick O'Neil, J. Ortiz-Ortiz, Minal Hiralal Panchal, Daniel Alejandro Perez, Erin Nicole Peterson, Michael Steven Pohle, Jr., Julia Kathleen Pryde, Mary Karen Read, Reema Joseph Samaha, Waleed Mohamed Shaalan, Leslie Geraldine Sherman, Maxine Shelly Turner, Nicole White, Instructor Christopher James Bishop, and Professors Jocelyne Couture-Nowak, Kevin P. Granata, Liviu Librescu and G.V. Loganathan.

We pray for their families and loved ones who are experiencing so much excruciating grief. And we pray for those who were injured and for those whose lives are changed forever because of what they witnessed and experienced. Each of these people had so much love, talent and gifts to offer, and their lives were cut short by a horrible and senseless act.

We are humbled by this darkness. We feel hopeless, helpless and lost. This is someone that I grew up with and loved. Now I feel like I didn't know this person. We have always been a close, peaceful and loving family. My brother was quiet and reserved, yet struggled to fit in. We never could have envisioned that he was capable of so much violence. He has made the world weep. We are living a nightmare.

There is much justified anger and disbelief at what my brother did, and a lot of questions are left unanswered. Our family will continue to cooperate fully and do whatever we can to help authorities understand why these senseless acts happened. We have many unanswered questions as well.

Our family is so very sorry for my brother's unspeakable actions. It is a terrible tragedy for all of us.

Why we Sing

I am working on a Bible study we are going to do eventually and would like to get some of your input. The title of the Lesson is "Why We Sing." The question for this week is, Why do we sing? Why do we corporately sing every week in yasm. Why do you personally sing? Please hit me up and let me know...

So Unworthy

Yesterday we observed the church ordinance referred to as the Lord's Supper, or communion. As we were partaking of the bread and the juice my mind would not stop replaying the many times in my life where God was so understanding so gracious so forgiving. Failure after failure yet I am forgiven and forgiven. Falling so short over and over yet so embraced by the Father.

Think of all of the times we have been given a second chance. A second chance to worship after falling into that sin that so easily besets us. A second chance to be a follower of Christ even after we turn our backs on Him, and go our own way. After wondering in the wilderness, or in Egypt, or in the pig trough, or around the mire and clay, just looking for that temporary peace that we THINK we can find somewhere else. And, when it is all over, and the temporary search for a earthly satisfaction ends and we are hurting emotionally and dying spiritually and we are running back that road as a repentant prodigal.....who is ALWAYS standing there... who is ALWAYS rejoicing...who is ALWAYS forgiving...who went to the Cross Knowing we would run, we would fail, we would search in the other places for other ways....But in spite of all of the deceit, all of the misdirection, all of the temporary fixes and satisfactions we thought, were bringing that peace and the answer to fulfil the lusts we have in this world. When the dusts settles and the party is over...and we feel all alone again...HE IS, and ALWAYS HAS BEEN...Right THERE.

HAVE YOU TALKED TO HIM TODAY...

Help Wanted

Last night after the evening service we had our weekly yasm leadership meeting. It was probably the largest one we have had! Praise the Lord! Something the Class really needs is a person (probably a girl) to take the responsibility to help Justin plan and organize the music. This person would be responsible for choosing the songs, making sure the leader is aware and comfortable with the songs, creating a rotation of the different people we have sing, getting the songs to Hockett early in the week, and basically to take this part of yasm as a ministry. Be praying about this, and if it sounds like something you are interested in let me know.

This weekend...has been off the HOOK

Saturday night started out like all Bible study or accountability nights. The girls met at one place, while the guys met at another. Pulling up at 6pm as usual, I had no idea what God had in store and what he was about to do.

12 or 13 of us (men) met in Abner's living room. We spent some time joking around, talking, and getting caught up on what was going on in each others lives. After about 15 or 20 min. of that, we began to share prayer request, burdens, needs, and praises with each other. Now it was time to pray! I then preceded to ask one man to open us in prayer and when he was done anyone who felt led to pray, would pray, then I would close when I felt everyone was done. The first man began to talk to God in a way that I have heard very few people talk to him in my life. Tears began to flow....praises rang out to God! by the end of the first prayer, I found myself already weeping and praying to myself and praising God, for what had already began to take place. For about 40 min. this went on. Man after man...praising God ... Praying ... Weeping ... lifting up the names of those in our class, begging for God to use us in a unexplainable way.

After this intimate time of worship, some of the men shared some different struggles and burdens and we all encouraged and edified each other. We then starting singing praises to God for the next 15 or 20 min....what an awesome time.

I wish I could put what happened on paper.....but, to be honest I am at a loss for words trying to explain what God did in our hearts Saturday night. I wish that every Christian could experience revival like we are experiencing it.

The Bible says "2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

YASM winter sports

The 2nd annual yasm snow day was Off of the hook! A couple of us went skiing while those who are to cool for skiing rolled in the snow with boards strapped to there feet. It was awesome. Wes Tanner was out of control, I heard rumor he was going to join the Olympic team. Also Hockett invented cross country snow boarding! I hope all of you will check it out next year when we go. It is awesome to be outdoors and enjoy God' creation! what a great day and a great activity. Dennis and Wes, thank you for planning this trip...It was fun and therapeutic! (Paul thanks for breakfast!!!)

missions conference

We are in the middle of our annual missions conference. Dr. Don Sisk has been speaking the past two evenings and it has been off of the hook....SO GOOD. He has been challenging us to examine ourselves personally in light of WORLD EVANGELIZATION. What am I doing to spread God's love? What am I doing towards the cause of world evangelism. Who is in my life, family, possibly at work, school, community, state, country, foreign field that needs God? When is the last time I gave of myself to share his love with someone else? Have I ever even considered leaving this country to go somewhere else? If God told me to, would I be willing?

I do not know about you, but I am so glad someone shared with me.

God does it AGAIN!!!!

most of you know that Bobby and Alicia are raising money for a mission trip that is coming up in the near future. Today they had a fund raiser meal to help raise the support they need to go on the mission trip. Bobby had just finished telling me how he needed $800 more just for the deposit by next Wed., or he would not be able to go. We had about 15 show up to give support and eat some Lasagna. It was a great time of fellowship and the food looked and smelled awesome of course. But the main reason we were there was not just to fellowship, not just to eat, but to show our moral and financial support.

I went home for a few minutes and then back to my office. My phone rang, it was Bobby. I talked to him for a minute, and he sounded unusually exited! He then began to share how the meal was awesome and everyone was very encouraging. He then began to share how he was hoping for 2 or $300...............I need say no more God blessed with over $1,000...All HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME LET ANGELS PROSTRATE FALL...BRING FORTH THE ROYAL DIADEM AND CROWN HIM LORD OF ALL. God is so good...thank all of you who stepped up to the pump to prove HIM once again....
